Glad to Be Back...

Happy Thursday! And Happy Birthday to my amazing hubby! :) I am glad to be back to blogland and per my post last week, have sincerely missed blogging and visiting all of my fave blogs out there. Thank you for hanging in there with me :) My apologies for the awkward radio silence over the past several weeks.... but I have a great reason for being gone :)

My hubby and I found out we are expecting Baby #2 in February, 2011! We found out back in mid-June, and of course, the morning sickness started pretty soon after (read: why my blogging was so spotty for the weeks leading up to my unplanned blogging hiatus). All I could do everyday was barely muster up enough energy to get out of bed and make it downstairs to the couch, pop in a movie and watch with my sweet son. I don't think I've ever watched so many movies (Veggie Tales, Mickey Mouse, etc!) in my entire life in such a short span of time (we do not watch a lot of TV or movies, but seriously, it was all I could do). And we won't even talk about how there was pretty much NO cooking going on in the house. None. Nada. Zip (And you know how much I love to cook). I cooked here and there (read: pulled some frozen spaghetti out of the freezer, or made a PB&J, or hubby would grill and I would sauté some squash)...but not a whole lot. We didn't eat fast food or anything (the thought of fast food still makes me want to head to the bathroom, but maybe that's a good thing - haven't ever been big on fast food), lots of Mediterranean food, Boston Market Chicken Carver sandwiches, and fruit. Tons and tons of fresh fruit. (Remember this post?) Thankfully, my hubby finished up summer classes and his work/business schedule is so flexible that he was pretty much running the house for me, and doing his work. Love that man. LOVE. :) Such a blessing and gift from God he is. :)

We are super excited to be blessed with another one on the way. Cannot wait to meet him/her (we think it might be a girl?! Not sure?) :) Around Mid-August I started experiencing some complications with the pregnancy. Baby looked perfectly healthy and had a strong heartbeat, but my body and the pregnancy itself was experiencing complications (not sure how to word all that without TMI ;))... so after a trip to the ER and a major scare thinking we had lost baby, we- praise the Lord- found out baby was perfectly wonderful and ok. Doctor said it was imperative that I take it easy... and to of course, pray. (His exact words were "Pray, cross your fingers and hope for the best.") Of course, pray we did, had been, and still are. So thankful for family and friends reaching out to us, and praying on our behalf. :) So thankful for an amazing God who is sovereign and provides peace and comfort, and joy amongst trials.

That was all about 5 weeks ago, and I have been thankful everyday for the morning sickness (which I am still experiencing somewhat now, even at 17 weeks)- meaning that baby is still growing and doing well. And I have started to feel baby move. Praise! :) My energy has somewhat returned (although I'm still ready to start feeling the "2nd Trimester energy and feel-great time" ;)), and it has been wonderful to spend each day with my sweet son playing outside (we finally got our back yard fenced in! YAY!), reading books, cooking together (made freezer jam a couple weeks ago-yum), and watching and helping him grow - He started preschool this past Tuesday (sniff sniff) and is so excited to be "going to school" just like his daddy. :) Precious.

So, that's where I've been :) I've been daydreaming up (and writing down) projects I want to work on, ideas I have, and of course getting a baby/pregnancy mini album in the works. I think one project I also want to tackle soon is a scraps type quilt. Cutting down fabric scraps into 4 or 5 inch squares and sewing them all together. Not all necessarily matching or coordinated, but I think that would make it even more fun. Colorful and fun. :)

So what about you? What have you been up to this summer? Any fun projects or new ideas? Are you ready for fall? I cannot wait for cooler temperatures and pumpkins to start appearing.

Glad to be back :)

  1. Glad to see you are back! I've had a similar gap in my blogging, and it is due to the same exact reasons as you! I am also due in February (21st) so I'm a week behind you, I think. I've also watched a lot of TV, done virtually no cooking, and had a big "think we might have lost the baby" thing late in July. I also think I'm having a girl...reading your blog was like reading my thoughts!

I'm very excited to see you back and I'm really looking forward to following your blog again. I love Tuesdays!

  2. Congrats to you and your family. I have been there myself, that is why my older daughter can cook so well. She had no choice! Hope you begin to feel better real soon.

I was wondering what happened to you. So glad your back, and can't wait to see all your new projects.

Do tell us if you find out what your having.

    Have a blessed day.
