Here it is in case you want to get your daily sugar allowance for the next month or so :)
Fresh Apple Cake by Mary Saunders

4 cups thinly sliced apples
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3/4 cup cooking oil
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
Sauce:
1 cup sugar
8 Tbsp. butter
1/2 cup cream or evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla
To prepare cake batter stir together apples and sugar in a large bowl. Add dry ingredients and stir well. In a separate bowl beat eggs, oil and vanilla. Stir this mixture into the apple mixture. Blend until thoroughly moistened. Fold in nuts. Pour into well-greased 9x13 dish or pan.Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
To prepare sauce put all ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Cook for 3 minutes.
Serve warm sauce over fresh apple cake. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
Enjoy :)
My project for this weekend while hubby is at work (this is his last weekend working nightshift! YAY!): Fabric Bookmarks! I've been itching to use up some fabric scraps and came across this fabulous blog - GreenBee. She made some beautiful fabric bookmarks (see her how-to post here) and they are available in her etsy shop here. So I'm now inspired to try making a few! We'll see how it works out! :) Image and bookmark by GreenBee.
Have a safe and wonderful 4th of July weekend for those in the States!
