experimenting with watercolor pencils

I received some watercolor pencils and paper for Christmas and have been experimenting with them here and there :) I know they aren't the real watercolor paints, but (even though I was an art major in college) I've never been great at painting ;) So to me, these are great ;)
I didn't really know what I was doing - I just kind of went for it and drew some stuff with a pen. And then colored it with different colors. I added water with a small paintbrush and loved watching how it changed the texture to a much softer and delicate feeling. I'm thinking this could work well in a journal page - maybe make a border around the page with pen and then color it with watercolor? Anyone else use watercolor pencils? Any ideas or techniques you use?

I am loving the quote "Make Something Good Today" - I got a new notebook at Target that had that written on it. Love it. :)

  1. I use watercolor pencils all the time, and pretty much the same way you did. I do all my coloring and shading first, then come in with my SU blender pens or aqua blenders and smooth everything out. I do this on regular card stock and water color paper as well. You just have to be careful on regular card stock because as it gets wetter (depending on the brand), it has a tendency to pill up or peel layers. You just have to be aware of that and not work it too much.
